Michael Nickels-Wisdom has been writing haiku since 1990 after discovering Harold G. Henderson’s An Introduction to Haiku in the collection of the public library from which he has now retired after 38 years. His poems have appeared in Modern Haiku, Frogpond, bones: journal for the short verse, and Whiptail: journal of the single-line poem among others, and have won Haiku International Association, Tokutomi Memorial Haiku Contest, and International Kusamakura Haiku Competition awards. He has been writing speculative haiku since 2011, when he began to study anomalous experience. Some of them have been published in Scifaikuest and Star*Line. Four more are forthcoming in Scifaikuest in 2024.
