It was autumn when first we met
The cool of the November air
Trying to suppress the fire that grew
As time marched on, we grew ever closer
His life entwined with mine, becoming one
I had finally found my destiny
The one that God made just for me
My search was over, as was his
We finally found home.
My love for him was undying
And he told me the same
His desk is lined with photographs
Memories frozen in time
Testimony to our undying love
Many years ago, I gave him my whole heart
He still keeps it in a jar on his desk
Among the photographs.
I have been writing poetry and fiction since I was an angst-filled teenager. I am now 55 and editing my first novel and writing poetry and short stories ranging from poems of love to stories of ghosts.
I am an Eagle Scout. I have a thirty-year career working in human services, including several years as a child protection worker and a case manager. I have served as a preacher, teacher, and deacon in churches, and I serve my community as a Chaplain. I hold a Master of Divinity in Theology, and a graduate certificate in Pastoral Counseling.
In January 2023, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The benign tumor was removed. I then spent a week in the hospital and endured a grueling three-month recovery at home. Due to the region of my brain that was affected by the tumor, I am now disabled.
