Map of Nowhere

There are places that don’t appear on any map.

Not because they are hidden or imaginary, but because they are unstable.

The Map of Nowhere is a growing record of locations that don’t reflect ordinary geography. These are places that exist at the edge of memory, perception, and experience. Some appear for just a short period of time and then disappear again. Some remain for years but refuse to be visited twice in exactly the same way. And, there are some that seem to have always been here, quietly waiting for someone to notice them.

Each marker on this map represents a documented disturbance – a moment when reality briefly behaved differently than expected.

Not every location is dangerous.

Not every location is safe.

Some are quite simply… wrong.

How the Map Works

The Map of Nowhere is not a traditional map. It is an archive.

Each entry is recorded using an Internal Coordinate, a reference system that is used to document unstable locations. These coordinates do not correspond to latitude or longitude. Instead, they track disturbances within the larger landscape of, well, Nowhere.

Each coordinate represents a single recorded event, location, or observation.

Some coordinates remain stable and can be revisited.
Others may shift, disappear, or come back, different.

If a coordinate becomes active again, new recordings may appear.

Map Markers

Markers on the map indicate locations where something has been recorded.

When you select a marker, you will open the archive entry associated with that coordinate. These entries may include:

* Written accounts
* Observational notes
* Environmental recordings
* Witness testimony
* Unexplained artifacts

Not every entry contains a complete record. Some are just fragments and others end abruptly.

In some cases, the record may still be ongoing.

⬆️

Recording Windows

Occasionally, the map opens what are known as Recording Windows.

During these periods, new disturbances are documented and additional coordinates may appear. When this happens, new markers will become visible on the map.

These windows do not follow a predictable schedule.

They open when conditions allow.

⬆️

Unstable Markers

Some coordinates exhibit unusual behavior.

These markers might flicker, distort or temporarily disappear from the map. When this happens, the location is considered to be  unstable.

Unstable coordinates sometimes return with additional information, sometimes they return altered.

And sometimes they do not return at all.

A Note to Visitors

If you choose to explore the map, you may notice something unusual.

Certain locations may feel familiar, even if you’ve never encountered them before.

This is not uncommon.

Many of the places recorded here exist in the quiet spaces people pass through every day, that is, empty roads, forgotten buildings, wooded paths, abandoned rooms, stretches of water that seem darker than they really should be.

Most people move past these places without noticing anything at all.

But occasionally, someone does notice.

And, when that happens, the map grows.
