all for love By John Reinhart

I tried inverting
tried changing my skin
grew scales
grew limbs
removed the tail
tucked back tentacles
stuck my eyes to my head
opaqued my outer layer
groomed toenails
moved to a marsh nearer to her
even ate her boyfriend
wore his clothes
to no avail

John Reinhart is a moon-shaped cheese and can be found ruminating in the fields of Maine. He writes heart-shaped poems in blood on clear nights and has exhibited a series of invisible portraits of ordinary people inspired by traditional Russian icons.
